Location: Central LondonOwing to major success and development, this highly respected STM publisher is looking to hire a Publishing Director to head a division responsible for a high-profile joint venture. Accountable to a joint-venture Board, this is a varied and challenging position for an outstanding all-rounder who can combine leadership skills with the strategic development of the division’s products. The role will involve leading the strategic, commercial and operational development of the publishing team and its products. Responsibilities include developing and implementing the business strategy, creating and managing international partnerships and strategic alliances, leading and motivating a department of around 40 people, and managing a substantial budget. The right person will be educated to degree level, ideally with a postgraduate management qualification. They will also have a well-established track record of successful management at a senior level within STM or reference work publishing which must include considerable product development experience. Strong leadership and proven partnership management skills are also essential.

Pursuing excellence in the use of prescribed medicines
BNF publications are widely regarded as the 'gold standard' for information on prescribed medicines. As well as the BNF and BNF for Children, the editorial team is responsible for the Nurse Prescribers' Formulary. The team also constructs continuing professional development and education materials and participates in the work of several national guideline providers

Location: Central LondonDuties and responsibilities will include:
- to analyse emerging clinical information and identify issues relevant to the BNF publications and advise the Joint Formulary Committee, the Paediatric Formulary Committee, and their advisory groups on appropriate action;
- to create, revise, and check material for publication;
- to ensure that the clinical information remains consistent between BNF publications;
- to communicate with national clinical experts, committee members, government bodies, and professional colleagues within parent bodies;
- to participate in the work of relevant external committees, and expert working groups.
Applicants should be UK-registered pharmacists. Grades and salaries are dependent on experience.
Digital Development Assistant

Salary: circa. £24,295
Location: Central LondonThe British National Formulary (BNF) is embarking on a period of intensive digital development to facilitate interoperability with clinical computer systems and other information resources.
A post is available for a graduate to undertake the specialised task of introducing new clinical content into our bespoke content management system. This will involve close liaison with clinical editors to maintain the content of the BNF, the BNF for Children, and the Nurse Prescribers' Formulary.
You will also assist with the integration of the NHS Dictionary of Medicines and Devices (dm+d) coding scheme into the BNF knowledge base and take a substantial role in assuring the quality of digital BNF products.
You need to be a knowledgeable and committed individual who shares our enthusiasm for the digital delivery of BNF knowledge and who has a good understanding of medicines in the clinical context and the use of clinical information. Familiarity with XML-based content management systems and with the NHS dm+d would be an advantage, but full training will be provided. More important is a sharp eye for detail and the ability to work to a high level of precision and accuracy. Applicants should also have a good understanding of how medicinal preparations are described in the BNF.
This exciting role will put you at the leading edge of developments in clinical information systems. You will work with our highly respected editorial team and knowledge systems team and together take many new initiatives forward.

Digital Editorial Assistant

Freelance, home-based opportunities
6 month contract, flexible hoursThe BNF is working with major healthcare system providers to deliver BNF content in a digital format at the point of care via decision support systems. A major factor in the success of this programme so far has been the contribution made by the team of home-based freelancers in the transformation of BNF content into a digital format.
We have a number of projects running and we’re now looking to expand the existing home-based team. Although the contract is initially for 6 months you would become part of a group of experts that we can subsequently call upon from time to time.
You must be a pharmacist or a pharmacy technician who has gained an appreciation of the culture and ethos of the BNF during at least 18 months clinical experience within the UK healthcare environment; have well developed IT skills; be able to work, mainly at home, for between 14 and 35 hours per week at times of the day, and on days of the week, which are convenient to you; be available to start in the next few weeks.
An appreciation of SNOMED-CT®, the NHS dm+d and other clinical coding systems would be an advantage.
We will consider candidates who are already working and wish to earn additional income. You will need to demonstrate that you can make the time available
